     George Washington never referred to the national capital by name. He always called it Federal City.

      Before leaving Illinois for the White House, Abraham Lincoln sold both his horse and his cow.

      While President, Ulysses Grant was arrested and fined $20 for speeding -- on his horse.

President's Day

     Washington proposed and was rejected by three different women before widow Martha Curtis accepted.

     Lincoln was the tallest president at 6-4. James Madison was the shortest at 5-4.

      Right before his wedding, Lyndon Johnson realized he didn't have a ring, so he went across the street and bought Lady Bird's wedding band at Sears.

      Woodrow Wilson was an avid golfer year round. He even used black golf balls to play in the snow.

      Two presidents were impeached by the House, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. Neither was convicted by the Senate.

      George W, Bush is the 43rd U.S. president. There have been only 42 presidents, but Cleveland was elected to two nonconsecutive terms and is counted twice as the 22nd and 24th president.

      John Kennedy and William Taft are the only presidents buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
