Abe Lincoln Fun

Abraham Lincoln would be 199 on February 12th.  Oddly enough, he looked that old when he was still alive.

Abe proved that any boy can grow up to be president, even if he wears a goofy hat.

Lincoln was born in a log cabin. Just like other Americans, his family didn't win the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes either.

What made Lincoln such a great leader was that people actually followed him.

Historians have discovered new evidence concerning John Wilkes Booth's motive for shooting Abe Lincoln. Booth was an actor, and he shot the president because he thought Lincoln—being a Republican—would eliminate federal funding for the arts.

Abe Lincoln achieved success in spite of his handicaps: he was afflicted with honesty and still became president, and he was born with a heart and still became a lawyer.

The Bible says, "The first shall be last," and that's true in Abe Lincoln's case. He was the first Republican to care about poor people—and the last.

Abe Lincoln was never involved in political wrongdoing. He was that rare public servant: a lawyer who didn’t need a lawyer.

Our country has come a long way since Lincoln’s presidency. During the Civil War the Confederate dollar was worthless. Today the U.S. dollar is.

As a storekeeper, Lincoln once walked three miles to return six cents to a lady customer. Which says a lot about his honesty—or a lot about the lady's perfume.

My son has a lot of Lincoln's qualities. Lincoln did his homework by a flickering flame. My kid does his by a flickering Playstation.

Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation and, personally, I think it's time for another one—to free all men from the tyranny of Valentine's Day.

You got to like a guy who wore the only hat that could have covered Lyle Lovett's hair.

If Lincoln were alive today, Anna Nichole Smith would probably be calling him up for a date.

To honor Abraham Lincoln on Presidents Day, Willard Scott used to wear his stove-pipe hairpiece.

You have to admit Abe was not our greatest-looking president. I always figured they hung his picture in school just to scare the kids into being good.

I guess history does repeat itself. Lincoln was shot in a theater and, with today's ticket prices, millions are being scalped there.

You can't help but wonder how a beard and stovepipe hat would look on Hillary.

Abe was the last of the honest politicians -- and they shot him.
