     Cyrano de Bergerac was born on this day in 1619. Cyrano had a huge proboscis. And his nose was big, too.
      Cyrano's nose was so long, when he turned his head people had to duck.

     The Alamo fell on this date in 1836. It was the biggest crash in Texas history until last year when Tim Duncan slipped on a sweat spot in the Alamodome.

     Michelangelo was born on this date in 1475. It took Michelangelo four years to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. It would have taken longer, but he decided not to give it a second coat.
     And just think, he could have done it in four hours with a Wagner Power Painter.

     On this day in 1925 the first packaged frozen food appeared in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was Clarence Birdseye who invented the "deep freeze" process. In 1929 Birdseye sold out to the Postum Company for $22-million in, you should excuse the expression, cold cash.

     Shaquille O’Neal is 38 today. Shaq’s doing great. He likes Cleveland, he’s playing good basketball, he’s making commercials, it’s his birthday. He feels so good he might even practice his free throws.

     Guam was discovered on this date in 1521. What are the people called who live in Guam? Guamites? Guamians? Guamers?
     Are there bears in Guam? Are they called Guami Bears?

     Today is Michelangelo's 535th birthday. Which is probably why we don't see him out and about much anymore.

     Michaelangelo was born on this day in 1475. You didn't mess with Mike. When a Vatican official criticized his nude figures in the Sistene Chapel, Mike painted the clergyman's face on one of the figures and added donkey's ears and a snake's tail. (True). Can you imagine what he could have done with Jerry Falwell and Tinky Winky?

     Today's Exciting Michelangelo Trivia Question: Michelangelo is best known for his immense artistic work in the Sistene Chapel, but what else was he famous for?
     Michelangelo was also famous for his immense smell. During the four years it took him to paint the Sistene Chapel, he never took a bath. On a hot day in Rome you can still smell him.

     Rob Reiner is 65 today. Rob's been putting on some weight lately. He's starting to look less like Carl Reiner's son and more like Dom DeLuise's younger brother.

     Actor-director Rob Reiner was born on this day in 1945. In the highly competitive world of show business Rob and his dad, Carl Reiner, both have achieved stardom. First Carl came out on top, then Rob came out on top -- and both are still doing well even without hair.

     On this day in 1810 the Illinois Legislature passed a law requiring the state's citizens to be vaccinated against various diseases. This law established a precedent, and politicians have been sticking it to us ever since.

     History's dullest basketball game was played on this day in 1930. In an Illinois high school game, Georgetown beat Homer 1-0. It couldn't have been worse if the ball had a flat.
     Homer blamed the loss on lousy officiating.
